Melissa De Carlo

Melissa De Carlo grew up together with her younger brother in Flawil, St.Gallen. After completing a commercial apprenticeship at FLAWA AG, she travelled to Sydney, Australia, for a six-month language stay. Upon returning home, she spent two years working in the sales office of the company Tyco Electronics Logistics AG in Steinach, before heading off abroad again to travel around the USA for almost six months. Once back in Switzerland, she started working in the sales office / export department of Berlinger & Co. AG in December 2010. In the spring of 2014, she completed her executive education as a Federally-certified marketing specialist and switched to the company’s marketing department in the same year. Since December 2017, she has been part of the knowledge-transfer-team at the FHS St.Gallen.
What are your duties at the WTT-FHS?
Planning and coordinating international projects with the USA and China, project management of the WTT YOUNG LEADER AWARD, managing the WTT website and maintaining the WTT social media channels.
How would you describe yourself?
Helpful, determined, open-minded, inquisitive.
What does a perfect weekend look like for you?
Sleep in, meet up with friends, a good mix of activities and relaxation.
What three things would you take with you to a lonely desert island?
My partner, my e-reader, and my mobile phone for music... maybe I’ll be able to get a signal there...
Who do you find fascinating, and why?
There are so many... definitely anyone who risks their life to help others.
Is there anything else that you absolutely want to do in your life?
Visit Australia again and see more of the world in general.
What makes you happy?
Lots of things... making others happy, social gatherings, travelling, good humour, shopping, and much more...
What is the nicest place in St.Gallen, and why?
The “Drei Weieren” ponds – beautifully situated in the midst of nature, yet so close to the city centre, and with wonderful views over the city.
