Bachelor's degree in Architecture

As an architect, you design buildings and are therefore responsible for creating spaces, places and living environments that are intended to stand the test of time and be used by future generations. You do so on all scales – from individual buildings, to urban planning, through to interior design, material selection and detailing. The Bachelor's Programme in Architecture at the FHS St.Gallen's ArchitekturWerkstatt gives you a comprehensive and holistic understanding of construction and design. You will study at a small, exclusive architecture school where importance is attached to personal interaction between lecturers and students. One of the special features of the St.Gallen model is a closely followed workshop philosophy. These design workshops, with project and learning processes that unite all years, as well as close links to practice within the context of a dual study model, lie at the heart of the Bachelor's Programme in Architecture.

The architecture course in St.Gallen develops the abilities of creative people with a talent for design, who are capable of interpreting a building and meeting the high aesthetic, technical and artisanal demands during the planning and construction phases. As a student at the St.Gallen ArchitekturWerkstatt, you will learn what it means to execute a project from start to finish, i.e. from design through to finished model. The workshop philosophy runs throughout the lessons: you learn to apply the knowledge that you have learned during your studies directly on architectural projects. At the ArchitekturWerkstatt, learning is closely linked to productive creativity and design.

The Bachelor's programme leads to a Bachelor of Arts FHO in Architecture. After graduating, you will be able to perform demanding tasks in accordance with the latest knowledge from science and practice and will be qualified to work as an architect in a variety of professional fields.
